铁型覆砂铸是在金属型(称作铁型)内腔覆上一薄层型砂而构成铸型的一种铸工艺。
由于覆砂层比较薄(4~8mm),因此使用比较贵的高质量造型材料,在经济上也是合理的,其结果是使铸件质量大大提高和废品明显增加;由于铁型覆砂铸型刚度不错,从而明显地提升了铸件的尺寸精度和颗粒性。
金属型精密铸造的特点是铸件在取出的过程中不会破坏铸型,铸型可以重复使用,生产大量相同的铸件。
同覆膜砂型铸造相比,金属型精密铸造生产的铸件拥有更细的晶粒组织和更高的力学性能。
